Now Is the Time, Part 11: Tear | Mend

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the sun:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

John 16:33
“In this world you WILL have trouble.”

Notes

Count it all joy, my brothers, WHEN you meet trials of various kinds.

Notes

Matthew 12:13
Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other.

Notes

“Do for one what you wish you could do for everyone.”

Small Group Questions

  1. What’s something in your life that was way harder than you thought it would be?
  2. What would it look like for you to embrace the hard (tearing) instead of simply waiting for life to get easier?
  3. Is there something in this season you’ve had to grieve? How have you invited God into that process?
  4. We live in a culture where we just buy new things when old things break. Has that affected the way you approach brokenness?
  5. How are you going to actively pursue mending in your life this week? Personally? Relationally?
  6. How can we pray for you right now and throughout the week?
