Reflect Together  How did you relate to last Sunday’s Message? What impacted you the most?

Share Together  When has there been a time you have been traveling and been stuck? What happened?

Read Together John 5:1-15
  • What do you think the atmosphere must have been like for those who gathered at the pool in Bethesda?

  • How does the crowd gathered at the pool remind you of the “sick” who are stuck in our society?

  • Why did Jesus ask the man who was paralyzed, “Do you want to get well?” Were you surprised by the man’s response? Why?

  • How is this reflective of some people’s responses in our world today? How about if Jesus asked you this question?

  • Based on Jesus’ instruction to this man, how does this address the victim mentality in our world today? What stops you from “standing up, picking up our mat’s and start walking” when faced with challenges in your life?

  • Why were the religious leaders upset by what Jesus did?

In v.14-15 what is your interpretation of Jesus rebuking the healed man in the temple? What was the man’s response? What was the message Jesus was conveying to him and us?
  • When have you been stuck in a sickness, issue or struggle, and you found freedom in Christ?

  • How is your spiritual walk different because of it today? How can you help others who are “poolside” needing healing?

Pray Together Take time to share updates on how God is answering prayer and pray for specific needs in your group.
