1. The name of Jesus is God-given and means .

“…you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21

Jesus is the Greek form of Yeshua (Joshua), meaning “The Lord saves.”

2. The name of Jesus is infused with and soul-transforming .

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

…God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord… Philippians 2:9–11

“In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” Acts 3:6

3. The name of Jesus contains and spiritual .

The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10

2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot….

  1. Do you know the meaning of your name? Is it connected to a family member or is there a story behind it being chosen for you?
  2. What does the name of Jesus mean to you?
  3. How do you apply the phrase “In Jesus’ Name” in your everyday life? How could you expand the weight and meaning of that declaration?
  4. How big are your prayers? How could you increase the size of your ask knowing that nothing is impossible with or for God?
  5. How would you characterize your current relationship with Jesus? Describe what takes place when it’s just Jesus and you.
  6. How can we pray for you right now and throughout the week?
