Theme: A Heart Condition

Share Together

If there is one thing you have a heart for, what might that be?

Reflect Together

What impacted you most from the Once for All Growth Guide and the spiritual practice you participated in? Also, how were you challenged by the Sunday gathering message and action steps you are taking this week?

Read and Discuss Together:

Hebrews 3:1-4

  • What do you think the Hebrew writer’s purpose was to compare Jesus with Moses based on those whom this leader was originally intended to?
  • In reference to verse 6 as Christ’s followers, how are we “his house” and how does that help us “hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory?”

Hebrews 3:7-14

  • These verses are originally from Psalms 95. What do you think the Hebrew writer is concerned about regarding the hearts of the people?
  • What do you think it means for people to “harden their hearts?” What is the effect of such a condition on that person as it relates to others around them?
  • How can our hearts be “led astray?” What are the repercussions when it is on us and others we know?
  • Verse 12 says, “see to it.” What does speak of us in our responsibility to encourage one another and how does this help us have spiritually healthy hearts?

Hebrews 3:15-19

  • What does the Exodus account teach us about the claim that “I would believe if only God would show a sign,” considering the miracles witnessed by the same generation who later rebelled?
  • In Exodus 16-19, it is revealed that the Israelites’ unbelief was the root of their sin and rebellion. How do you think sin and unbelief are related?
  • The Israelites’ rebellious and unbelieving hearts prevented them from entering the Promised Land. How does this serve as a warning for us not to miss out on God’s promises for our own hearts?
  • What is the condition of your heart you could use prayer for?
Pray Together:
