Carriers of the Incarnation

December 11, 2022 / Dan McEvoy / Luke 1:26-38

Luke 1:26–38a (NIV)
Luke 1:41–47 (NIV)

Let’s be carriers of His presence through:

⇒ Joyful .

Luke 1:47–52 (NIV)

⇒ Genuine .

Luke 14:11 (NIV)
Luke 1:53–55 (NIV)

⇒ Spiritual .

The greatest disease in the West today is not TB or leprosy; it is
being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for. We can cure physical
diseases with medicine, but the only cure for loneliness, despair,
and hopelessness is love. There are many in the world who are
dying for a piece of bread but there are many more dying for a
little love. The poverty in the West is a different kind of poverty
— it is not only a poverty of loneliness but also of spirituality.
There’s a hunger for love, as there is a hunger for God.
A Simple Path, Mother Teresa

Be Present in delivery.

Theme: Impossible Possible

Share Together:

What was the most unexpected gift you have ever
received?

Reflect Together:

What impacted you the most from Sunday’s message
and what are your next steps to be present with others this week?

Read & Discuss Together:

Luke 1:26-38

  • How do Gabriel’s words to Zechariah (Luke 1:13-17) compare– to his
    words to Mary? How are Zechariah’s (v. 12 & 18) and Mary’s (v. 34 &
    38) responses different?
  • What do you think it was about Mary that led God to choose her to
give birth to the Savior of the World? How did her qualities prepare
her for her future as the mother of Jesus?
  • Which of Mary’s character qualities do you find important and want
to emulate in order for God to use your life in significant ways?
  • What risk was being asked of Mary, and how was her response
    faith-filled?
  • What has been an unexpected challenge or opportunity God has
given you that seemed so impossible? How did you respond and what
    was the result?
  • What are some current challenges or opportunities that seem
impossible? How are you responding to God regarding them? How
could you use prayer for the challenges or opportunities you are
    facing?
Pray Together:

Take time to pray together as a group/family for not only
yourselves, but for those who are facing unexpected challenges this
holiday season.
