Who can relate to the tension between God’s kingdom and making a name for yourself? Genesis 11:1-9 (NIV) We serve a God who wants heaven to earth. 1 Peter 2:4-10 (NIV) We serve a God who wants to us into a spiritual house. Sermon in a Sentence: We are a spiritual house that bears the name and image of Jesus. Closing Question: What area of your life do you need to invite the rule and reign of God into? Theme: Whose kingdom are you building? Share Together: Share a season of life when your primary focus was to make a name for yourself. Reflect Together: What impacted you the most from last week’s reading that you expressed in your Genesis Growth Guide? What impacted you from last Sunday’s gathering? Read Together: Genesis 11:1-9, 1 Peter 2:4-10 Discuss Together: Name your Tower of Babel. Where do you struggle to try to make a name for yourself? What season do you find yourself in? Are you looking for a place to settle and make a name for yourself? Are you already in the process of building your own Tower of Babel? Are you looking for protection by surrounding yourself with people who speak a common language? What is the common language? Do you feel like you have been scattered? Like you have lost community, safety, the reputation of your name, etc.? How can you apply the story of Babel to your life today? Can we read the story of Babel in a manner that gives us a glimpse into God’s story of redemption? Explain… What does it mean to be a spiritual house? What changes (if any) does your group need to make in light of what you have learned? Pray in Partners: Partner up and spend some time praying for each other based on what the Holy Spirit is speaking to you from the story of the Tower of Babel. Pray Together: How can the group pray for you? Also, please share testimonies of what God has been doing in your life. Next Week’s Reminder: In preparation for next week’s gathering and Group, remember to read Genesis 12-15 and write your responses in your Growth Guide.
